Soccer, my alternate world
For me, soccer isn’t a game. It’s a place, a destination of the mind. A place where no one can touch us, only our opponents in front of us. A place where the only thing that matters is that you gave 110% and you left everything on the pitch. The good sensation you feel after a game doesn’t come from the win. It comes from the satisfaction that you know you did your very best. Winning isn’t satisfying, but knowing you earned the win is. When I play soccer, it doesn’t matter what is happening in my life. Soccer takes me somewhere far away. I’m a different person. It doesn’t matter what anyone things of me, because on the field, I am on top of the world. This game, this place, this destination. It’s where I belong. It’s my home.
